Roxy Owens of Society Social

One of my favorite things about blogging is that I have met so many inspiring women - like Roxy Owens.  Roxy is the founder and designer of Society Social.  She's vivacious, ambitious, and encourages us all to live sparkly.  I'm definitely a big fan of her bar carts - they are so fun!  She has been kind enough to do a short interview, and has sent me lots of behind the scenes photos.  I've loved getting to know a little bit more about her, and hope that you will too.

Read the interview (and check out behind the scenes photos) after the jump.

Where did you grow up?
Conover, NC! Mini!! It was weird that I was Asian. Yes, that mini.
What did you dream of becoming when you 'grew up'?
I always thought I was going to be a fierce lawyer. Wow, was I off. I wouldn't last a second!
Where did the idea for Society Social begin?
At the bottom of my highball and from the depths of my gray corporate cubicle! On a serious note, the ah-ha moment came during a cocktail party I hosted. My guests raved about my stocked bar cart and after reading a ton of design blogs, I knew there was a gap I could go after!
What makes the perfect bar cart?
Aside from the alcohol (of course!), vintage barware is 100% chic and necessary!
What is your ideal weekend?
A weekend at home with the Mr. doing absolutely nothing on our own schedule. I travel a lot so it doesn't happen entirely too often.

What advice would you give to others wanting to start their own business?
YOLO! Isn't that what kids these days are saying?!  And stick to your guns. It may seem cray to go out on your own, trust me I've seen the looks, but if you believe it (and work very hard!), it will happen!
**For those of you like me that don’t know what YOLO is – it means ‘you only live once.’
What is your favorite food?
I heart antipasto plates!
Now be sure to head on over to Society Social and check out Roxy's amazing product!
